BLOODS BANTER: Round 4
The Bloods moved to 3-0 at senior level last weekend with the narrowest of wins over Sebastopol at MacPherson Park. With an injury list as long as a ruckman’s arm, the kids have stood tall in recent weeks, showing grit and determination beyond their years. Bailey Mawson was named best on, while Ryan Carter had some clutch moments late in the game, Jack ‘the Electrician’ Walker was a workhorse again, and Klixy returned putting forward pressure on and kicking goals.
The Reserves had a 28 point win – Jai Whitehand and JH both with 3 goals, while Sony, Prod, Huddo, Jye Veith and Matt Serafin all featured among our best.
The Unders didn’t have much dew to kick off the ground on a warm May day but without Jobbo as key target, the boys shared the goals around with 11 individuals hitting the scoreboard. Evan Donoghue has impressed in his first few games with his new club, while Adrian Monitto with three goals (and a new haircut), along with Tomac and Sygidus who both took time away from the gym to play and were also in our best players.
We would like to thank our supporters for their co-operation with the COVID protocols following last week. We know how much you all wanted to be in the rooms, especially after such a great win in the seniors.
On the netball courts, four wins from five matches last week. In Round 1 of BFL Women’s Darley took the honours. Jordyn Syme named best on ground for the Bloods.
Unfortunately Matt Denham has a confirmed ACL injury from the match against Sunbury. Matt has made a significant contribution to our club since returning ‘home’ in 2018 and we wish him all the best with his recovery.
Finding help on match day isn’t easy – thank you to those who have volunteered as time keepers, and ground managers in the first few weeks. You know who you are - your contribution is appreciated.
Our Premiership Reunions have been postponed until Saturday May 15 when we play East Point. This promises to be a great day where the ex-players get to catch up, and if past years have taught us anything it is a time where the stories just get bigger and better. That night we have our $3k draw – see Rayza if you’d like to buy a ticket ($50 or $70 with insurance).
Women’s football continues this Sunday against Bacchus Marsh at Maccy Park from 12.45pm. Being Mother’s Day we are having a morning tea before the game at 10.15am. Tea/Coffee and some slices and cakes, gold coin donation with proceeds going to the cancer council.
Nabby is still searching for more sponsors – if you’d like to join our club as a 2021 partner please give him a call.
Our male football teams had their player photos taken last week and you’ll start seeing these used on social media and in the clubrooms over the next few weeks. Thanks to Mandy at Daydream Photography for her brilliant work.
Thursday meals are on again at the clubrooms - $12 for a schnitzel or pasta with chips and salad. Pre-ordering online is now available, we’ll put the link on our social media pages on Thursday morning.
Apparel is expected to arrive soon – hoodies not far away and we hope to have polo shirts in stock too. We'll advise when they are in.
Reminder about our Punting Competition - $20 a week, select one horse in each race at the Melbourne Saturday meeting – the person with the highest return on a hypothetical $1 each way basis collects the daily prize. Jump on www.meltonfnc.funters.com to find out more and to play each week.
While you are online please vist our website - meltonfnc.com.au for all the info you need about what’s happening at the club and remember to like our pages on social media. Roaming Pig is back when we have a senior win, along with weekly team selections, photo galleries and news updates from around the club.
That’s all for this week, on behalf of the committee – GO BLOODS!
